Encouraging Messages for Troubling Times
Annual Meeting 7:00pm
We will also revisit some Old Business from a previous meeting concerning the need to look at a request from Summit Christian University for us to appoint one from our association to sit on the Board of Directors of that institution. I believe this has already been approved but not acted on.
We will have a guest speaker from the KBC, Dr. Michael Cabell, Assistant to the Executive Director for Convention Relations, who will give us information on what is happening in the KBC, and to answer questions from many of our pastors who have asked, "What is the relationship between PABA, their churches, and the KBC?" "Has the KBC forgotten about us here in the Jackson Purchase? It should be very interesting.
We will also be conducting a few items of impending business as well.
From our last meeting in July, there is now a new Strategy Task Force in place. The members of this team are as follows: 1. Dr. Allen Davidson of Community Fellowship Baptist Church; 2. Rev. David Little of Dexter Baptist Church; 3. Rev. Wes Morehead of Zion's Cause Baptist Church; 4. Dr. Merrick Nunn of Westside Baptist Church; and 5. Rev. Bob Waldridge of Yahweh Baptist Church. Dr. Jim Ewing of First Baptist Church Calvert City will serve as liaison between the Executive Committee and this body. If anyone has any suggestions for this task force which deals with strategy for the Association, please forward those suggestions to the AMS. Our inaugural STF meeting will be September 5th, Friday, from 10:00 am until noon. We will meet at Westside Baptist Church in Murray with Dr. Merrick Nunn and his staff and church hosting.
The Associational WMU will be hosting their international students' "Thanksgiving" meal at MSU the week before Traditional Thanksgiving. The ladies will be contacting those who have expressed an interest in this very soon. If you are interested in participating with this event but are not yet on their contact list, please connect with Mrs. Virginia Smith or Mrs. Beverly Jennings at Aurora Baptist Church or the AMS.
